GTA 6 needs 212 GB of free space. Here's what that means for your console
Rockstar's figure is bigger than most PS5 owners have spare. The Xbox Series S is the tightest fit.

Rockstar says GTA 6 requires 212 GB of storage to install, and has asked players to clear space before pre-loading opens on 10 November.
How much each console really has
Consoles never offer their full advertised capacity. Approximate usable space out of the box:
| Console | Usable space | After GTA 6 |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 (825 GB) | ≈667 GB | ≈455 GB |
| PS5 Slim (1 TB) | ≈848 GB | ≈636 GB |
| PS5 Pro (2 TB) | ≈1.86 TB | ≈1.65 TB |
| Xbox Series X (1 TB) | ≈802 GB | ≈590 GB |
| Xbox Series S (512 GB) | ≈364 GB | ≈152 GB |
Leave roughly 20 GB extra for a day-one patch.
If you're short
On PS5, games run only from the internal SSD or an M.2 expansion SSD. On Xbox Series X|S, from the internal drive or an official expansion card. A USB drive can hold games you're not playing, and copying them back is faster than downloading them again.
